What We Do
Our sessions are dedicated to reading, writing, and math development, while also exposing our students to artistic and enrichment activities that cultivate curiousity and promote self-sufficiency.
Fall and Spring Program Information
Fall Program: September thorugh December Spring Program: January through June
During the school year, Chicago HOPES meets twice a week after school and/or on Sunday nights. All sessions last for an hour and a half, though meeting days and times are shelter specific. Sessions are dedicated to our core values: literacy, math, and independent learning skills, as well as homework help and enrichment. Individualized lesson plans are provided to guide tutors in their efforts to help students achieve their full academic potential.
Summer Program Information
Enrichment
Fifteen minutes of each session is devoted to a group activity related to the monthly enrichment theme. The students are engaged in activities such as art projects, dance performance, and discussions about community and health. One day each month, Chicago HOPES invites a special guest from a local organization to lead an full-session enrichment project with the students at the shelter.
