First and foremost, educational support for students experiencing homelessness. We provide school supplies, art resources, educational games, and and a fun learning environment at each of our shelter tutoring sites. Students who become homeless are more likely to fall behind their peers and/or shift schools in the middle of the year, so we aim to intervene with resources, stability, and caring tutors to keep them on the path to academic success.
A safe and supportive atmosphere for the HOPES program. We want our students to have sensitive, caring, talented adults working with them, which requires excellent training and support materials for tutors and site coordinators. Our volunteers make a real impact and the experience makes an impact on them.
Outstanding enrichment programs to inspire our students toward creative learning. We provide arts, science, and personal enrichment programs from organizations like the Chicago Children's Museum and Mad Science, as well as personalized programs from trusted volunteers. You can help fund these and other exciting programs.
Innovative partnerships and additional resources for students and families. We work with local organizations to provide books, clothing, hygiene products, Mother's Day gifts, and other resources to families living in shelters. We also develop our own special programming, like anti-bullying workshops, and are helping with the development of a community basketball court in North Lawndale.
